Road rage? Fantasies of punching obnoxious store clerks in the face? Wishing you had an old phone so you could slam the receiver down repeatedly? These PALE compared to the desire to throw my effin computer out the window. Even writing that sentence annoys me. I don’t want to write “effin.” But I draw the line at outright cursing on this blog.
Do you know anyone who hasn’t wanted to fling their computer/laptop out the window? Someone is going to comment that they know just that person. That comment will annoy me, too. The scary part is that while one may wish to throw the desktop out the window, that is way too much work for a momentary rage. But now a laptop? That’s a different story. And while we can all chuckle with the “been there, felt that” moment, probably no one has actually thrown it.
What stops us? Well, it isn’t exactly mature. Kind of like a techno temper tantrum. Not to mention the natural consequences to our behavior…..THE CLEAN UP. And the price of a window. And getting a new computer. And being a bad role model.
Possible scenarios:
1. We rent our place.
Landlord: How did this happen?
Me: Um……I got mad?
Landlord: That’s nothing compared to how mad you’ll be when you don’t get your security deposit back.
2. I teach at a high school….
Teacher Me: Giving me a dirty look and refusing to do your work? I don’t think so.
Student: C’mon…you just threw your laptop out the window.
Teacher Me: Yes. Yes I did.
But, oh man it would be sooooooo satisfying. For that one moment.

My choices were to reblog this, or to throw my computer out the window. Reblogging won.

Frustrating these computers, eh?

Or I’d be complaining about throwing my pen and legal pad across the room.

I don’t know about a computer but last night I wanted to throw the new monitor I bought out the window.

My monitor (screen on my laptop) is frequently the problem, although the computer itself has little leprechauns (it couldn’t be what I’m doing) living inside. My new computer should be here today or tomorrow. Thanks for commenting!
