IRS Phobia or Dear God it’s Almost April 15th

Since Christmas, I’ve been worried about our taxes.  Like Worried with a capital W.  Like night terrors scared.  Which is ridiculously crazy because our taxes are always right.  We have an accountant.  My husband obsessively saves receipts.  He keeps a box where we drop in any and all tax info/receipts/forms.

I wake up in the middle of the night with my stomach in knots.  Did I lose my W2?  What about my union dues receipt?  Any 1099s floating about?

What if we click the wrong button when we file electronically?  What if we forget to put a stamp on the envelope if we file via mail?  What if I actually send the taxes to my uncle instead of to Uncle Sam?  What if what if what if?

Instantly Really Scared

Absolutely Phobic Really Like the 15th…

Because then it’s over for another year.

It sounds more like “Dear God It’s Almost April 15th!” since IRS Phobia is the fear of the IRS. Your “worry” is on not doing it correctly or if something goes wrong; not the classic and obvious sign of “You’re being audited.” I hope you see the humor in this.

    • lol Yes my phobia (which, of course, isn’t exactly a phobia but does keep my up at night). It’s fear of making a mistake and having IRS agents hiding behind my car to pounce. Also being funny but the worry is real. Thanks for liking my post. 🙂

I’m sure the worry is real, since many of us have that fear of doing our taxes wrong, and having IRS agents hiding nearby to catch us when we least expect it. Unfortunately, I don’t have a solution for this; I can only suggest that you look at your good track record and try to convince yourself for a day that there’s nothing to worry about since it’s never wrong.

Well, I do worry, but I know so many people hate their taxes, too. I wanted to put some humor into the situation. I’m glad you enjoyed the post! Thank you 🙂
