That moment when you want to throw your computer out the window

My choices were to reblog this, or to throw my computer out the window. Reblogging won.

Road rage? Fantasies of punching obnoxious store clerks in the face?  Wishing you had an old phone so you could slam the receiver down repeatedly? These PALE compared to the desire to throw my effin computer out the window. Even writing that sentence annoys me. I don’t want to write “effin.” But I draw the line at outright cursing on this blog.

Do you know anyone who hasn’t wanted to fling their computer/laptop out the window? Someone is going to comment that they know just that person. That comment will annoy me, too. The scary part is that while one may wish to throw the desktop out the window, that is way too much work for a momentary rage. But now a laptop? That’s a different story. And while we can all chuckle with the “been there, felt that” moment, probably no one has actually thrown it.

What stops us?…

  1. Age and incredibly good tech support. When I was young my temper was pretty bad and it cost me. Deep breathes.

Freudian moment: when I accidentally spill a full mug of coffee on the keyboard of my laptop. It didn’t die immediately so I emailed my latest draft of my novel to myself and then shut it down. It is later resurrected in the afternoon after going through a compressor blast and a can of moisture displacer. I am still typing on it, but am keeping all bad thoughts (the ones that need to be censored for a teachers’ blog as pure as this one) out of my head. I can’t afford a new one right now, so I’ll behave.
Barb, be a good girl and instead of doing harm to your poor, helpless computer (who does NOT deserve to be called effin anything), inflict the same harm on yourself. Go read a book on how to make kefir or something.

haha/ It was the last straw for this computer. I went and got a new one which, of course, the store didn’t have in stock. Hopefully I’ll get it tomorrow. Thanks for visiting and commenting. And next time you do I’ll be able to see the comment without the screen being held together with a prayer.

I don’t suppose putting your computer in a huge vat of rice would have helped……And I’m still reeling from sticker shock on the new one. But I practically have my computer superglued to my body I use it so much. So the new one was definitely needed.

I was in the middle of an important edit for a client, so the rice would have taken too long. I also have my computer glued to me. Safest thing for me is to give up coffee. I so envy you. As soon as I have some money, and have backed everything up, and my husband is in a good mood – I am going to accidentally drop it.
Tomorrow we will be waiting to see a pic of the new chip basket.
        Enjoy!

I will! I love the way you write, by the way. You make me smile and that is so important to me. Stress release!

The reason I blog is because of all the other stress relievers out there in Blogland who just put a smile on my face, too. And you’re a teacher, who hates the oxford comma – wow, we have sooo much in common.

Today I am stressed to the max because our NYSESLAT (New York State ESL Aptitude or Achievement – I can never remember which-Test) starts today. Speaking section 1:1 with 150 kids and I’m presenting at a TECH EXPO on Friday. If I can see straight this week, that will probably be my text blog! I love talking to other teachers. But I won’t whine too much in said post because I hate it when other people do that too. Have a great day!
