- you realize that you’ve worn your bedroom slippers to work
- you look in the mirror and your mother looks back at you
- all the students look at you blankly
- you think you’ve spoken to yourself and realize you said it out loud
- you try to be funny but make an ass out of yourself
- you walk into a room full of people and can’t remember your husband’s name
That moment when you realize that what you have accomplished in life does not match your childhood dreams.
Yes. Those moments.
What if some of those occur on a daily basis?

Ah yes, we’ve all been there. Well, I never wore my slippers to work, but I did once drive my son to school in them, forgetting to put my shoes on instead.

Years ago I wore my slippers to work. I don’t know how, because they were the big fluffy kind that used to be popular. I spent the whole day trying to hide my feet under my desk. I don’t think that I did that more than once, though. ha

A story for your students, anyway. 🙂

True! I spent part of the day running around barefoot, hiding from administrators.

Oh, well, you can always just say, you know that man I married and vowed to love forever…. I just call him sweetheart. Yeah, that works.

Good idea. Sometimes when I’m
thinking of something else I blank out. Then my husband stepped forward and says hi, I’m her husband. Very embarrassing.

At least he stepped forward and didn’t hide.

Very true. Although not my finest moment lol.

Ha ha – you could turn this into a monthly feature. Sadly, I’ve experienced a few of these. I see my mother often these days. Thank you for the smile 🙂

Good idea about the monthly feature! These are not all new, though. They were the moments that immediately sprung to mind when I thought of this. And I’ve learned from some of them. I check and make sure I don’t have my slippers on now lol. Thank you for your interest in this blog!

I’ve actually been doing some of those things all my life … What does THAT mean??! And this year, I can’t even FIND my damn slippers!

Haha….confession, these are not new. Well, some of them are. The bedroom slippers incident was a long time ago but left an indelible impression. Obviously, I was not driving my stick shift car at the time. And some are more frequent than others. But maybe it’s because I have no filter when thinking or speaking out loud. Oops

I have many of those moments. But, I don’t let them define me. I just regroup.

I get a kick out of them. Just a few of the funniest, albeit embarrassing, moments that we go through.

Never left with slippers, but I have twice left with two similar but defiantly not matching shoes. . . . Very embarrassing.

Especially if you’re climbing trees. I envision drivers looking up and saying hey look at that! A beige boot and a hot pink boot!

And – hope you don’t mind all these comments on your blog from me, I’ve been reading many of your posts and enjoying them.

Usually they’re the moments we can look back and laugh about. The ones we can’t would make another list, I think.

I’ve left the house with slippers several times but always noticed halfway along the road and gone home to change. I have left the house in a rush barefoot though…not my finest moment.
