Top #10 Netflix Bingeing Shows

As a recovering alcoholic, I’m addicted to anything I’ve done twice and enjoyed.  So with Netflix, I’m in 7th Heaven.  If I like a show, I watch it over and over and over again.  If I don’t like one, I watch 10 minutes of it and that’s that.

Then within shows, I find specific episodes that I love and watch multiple times.  Here’s an example.  Burn Notice, Season 7, Episode 2 “Forget Me Not,” I have probably watched 25 times or more.  Probably more.  Maybe a lot more.  The final episode of the series, “Reckoning” I’ve watched at least 20 times.

But here are my Netflix favorites.  Sort of not in any order.

  1. The Crown – I may win an award for being the American who has watched it more times than anyone else in my country.  I have the same birthday as the Queen Mother and President Obama.  Just sayin’.
  2. Medici – I watched the 8 episodes of Season 1 in one sitting.  Now I’ve re-watched the entire show again. It’s been out about 2 minutes.  One of the best shows I’ve ever seen. Not as good as Game of Thrones, but close.
  3. Saving Grace – I’ve watched all 3 seasons at least 10 times, with individual episodes more often.
  4. Person Of Interest– aka before Cookie Lyon existed. I’ve been a fan of Michael Emerson since LOST and I love this show.  Jim Caviezel is great, and this is the first time I saw Taraji P. Henson.
  5. Burn Notice – Even though the show is formulaic in many ways, I can’t get enough of it.  Not for lack of trying.
  6. Roswell – What is it about that show??  I’ve seen the pilot and final episode so so so so so many times.
  7. Jessica Jones – They better come out with Season 2 soon.  I can’t wait much longer.
  8. Merlin – no duh.  Fantasy is my #1 genre
  9. Luke Cage – He better hook up again with Jessica Jones.
  10. Blue Bloods – I think I want to be a part of that family.  But still be a teacher.

This list could be longer, but I do have a life.

I have watched 0 of these shows, but my parents watch Blue Bloods. I have seen Stranger Things though – it was really good!

Haha really? Stranger Things is supposed to be really good. That’s next on my list. Your parents have good taste. What genres do you like? Not counting pizza movies .

Well I’m currently making my way through The Office. Also watching a show called Designate Survivor which is really good. It’s about your country but is filmed in Toronto and has a bunch of Canadians in it. I’m also watching The Blacklist and How To Get Away With Murder but those are in mid season breaks. So I guess I like investigative shows? I don’t know, it’s a case by case basis.

You haven’t given up on the Office? I like Blacklist a lot, but haven’t wanted to watch it a second time. I’ll check out Designate Survivor. How to get away with murder is supposed to be very good. But scary to watch before bed.

It’s not scary at all! I’m on season 6 of The Office. I think I’m hypnotized by it.

Are you sure it’s not scary? I love true crime shows but if I watch them at night I get nightmares. Silly, but true. And I would watch the Office if you paid me $300 an episode. Otherwise, forget it.

It’s not scary. It’s based around a college professor and 6 of her students. It’s more like an “Oh no, we did something bad. Act cool” show. The cliffhangers are great.

I have only ever heard of two shows on this list, and am not sure what they are about. Are you sure you have a life?

I’m with Paul. Check out Stranger Things. It’s like if Stephen King and Steven Spielberg got together and had a brainstorm over a couple of beers in 1982 and this was the result. For me, I’ve kind of been taking a break from bingeing shows lately. For a while I had a cycle of TV shows that I would watch a full season of in each of them and work my way around (The West Wing, Smallville, Game of Thrones…). I just haven’t had the right attention span to binge anything in recent months. With the exception of Luke Cage. I did take a weekend to watch that when it was released. Fantastic.

The only one of those I’ve ever seen is Merlin. 🙂 But I get this thing of wanting to watch and rewatch shows and movies I’ve enjoyed, too, and I’m neither alcoholic or a recovering one. (I do have a touch… ahem… of OCD, though. That’s not a comment on alcoholism, just on my brain.) So what I do is buy DVD box sets, and I have rather too many.

I watched all 4 seasons of Orange Is The New Black in 3 weeks. I am starting The Get Down pretty soon. Netflix also has some good movies
